The energy sector is changing.
The way we innovate must change too.

Decarbonisation, electrification of consumption, new technologies and increasingly complex energy production: the sector we operate in is changing faster than traditional organisational models can keep up with. Top-down strategies are no longer enough: we need organisations that can also innovate from the bottom up, drawing on the skills and insights of those who experience change in the field every day.

This is the context in which E-DEAS 4 was born: the programme that turns the experience of Edison's people into new products, services and business models. Not just a collection of ideas, but a structured journey to identify relevant problems within specific business challenges, validate them methodically and develop market-ready concepts.

E-DEAS 3

The Radicati project is proof of what can grow from an insight within E-DEAS. During E-DEAS 3, Alessandro, Leonardo, Lorenzo and Luigi developed a phytoremediation solution for cleaning up contaminated sites, capable of reducing the costs and environmental impact of soil remediation. In the video, the journey told by those who lived it.

Challenges

E-DEAS 4 is built around three business challenges, each proposed and sponsored by the head of the relevant Division. Choose the challenge you want to take on and, within it, identify a concrete problem you would like to try to solve. And if none of them fully reflects you, there is the open challenge: bring your innovative idea to help build Edison's tomorrow.

New energy for our assets

Edison owns unique assets: infrastructure, data, expertise, relationships with local communities and customers. Today we only tap into part of their potential. How can we turn what we already have into new businesses, services or partnerships, by hybridising technologies, leveraging existing assets and applying what we already know how to do in new ways?

Decarbonisation

Implementing technologies and strategies to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental sustainability

Digitalisation

Adopting advanced digital solutions to improve connectivity, automation and data analysis, supporting the company's digital transformation

Open challenge

Propose a problem or a solution that matters for Edison's tomorrow.

New energy for our assets

Edison owns unique assets. The value they generate today is only a fraction of what they could generate.

Over time, Edison has built an extraordinary heritage: energy infrastructure, operational data, technical expertise, relationships with local communities and customers. Much of what we already own — physical assets, technologies under development, accumulated know-how, established partnerships — holds potential that is still largely untapped. How can Edison turn what it already owns into new businesses, services or partnerships capable of generating new value — by hybridising technologies, leveraging existing assets, developing services complementary to energy generation and applying what we already know how to do in innovative ways?

DIM: Designing Innovative Models

Millions of SMEs. A large market where price seems to be the only lever for differentiation: but is that really the case? Edison can change the rules of the game.

The SME market is crowded and competitive, and differentiation almost always comes down to price. Yet small and medium-sized enterprises have complex, often unmet energy needs: cost management, efficiency, continuity, sustainability, access to incentives. Edison has the expertise, the technologies and the credibility to offer something that goes beyond supply, responding to the real needs of SMEs. The challenge is to accelerate growth in the segment, increasing market share and volumes through a distinctive value proposition able to compete not only on price but on the ability to create tangible results for the customer: a new service or business model capable of building customer loyalty and structurally differentiating Edison from its competitors?

AOS: Always Operational Energy Solutions

How can Edison Next guarantee energy continuity and multi-vector energy management to hospitals, schools, town halls and essential services during blackouts, demand peaks and extreme weather events, by combining renewables, storage and smart management?

Hospitals, schools, town halls and essential infrastructure must keep running even during blackouts, demand peaks and extreme weather events. Integrated management of electricity, heat and other energy vectors, together with renewable sources, storage systems and smart technologies, can increase autonomy, flexibility and efficiency while reducing costs and emissions.

Open challenge

Do you have an innovative idea that doesn't fit into the three challenges? Tell us about the problem it would solve and how you envision the solution. The most promising ideas will join the E-DEAS 4 journey.

What ideas
are we looking for?
